Worth checking ep.1

Welcome to the first article of never ending (or till I die) series called Worth checking episode 1.

Weird introduction

Being a security researcher or pentester, red teamer, hacker, or other specialist in a particular field requires continuous improvement of skills and staying up to date with news. I am sometimes out of touch with reality so much that I don’t know what’s going on in the country I am living, or my own city, but I do know what new tools, vulnerabilities and threats are emerging every day. Politics, wars, celebrities, rumors and conversations about things beyond my control, in my opinion all that makes people start living the lives of others instead of your own. I don’t want to waste my time on all this as it brings nothing to my life. Sometimes I literally have nothing to say during small talks, and sometimes once I start telling something, no one understands it, or thinks it’s some nerd bullshit. Well, I don’t speak on subjects I don’t understand and I haven’t done the research beforehand, and I don’t tell others what they want to hear. I certainly don’t have a need to tell someone that I know something better or am right about something. Maybe I’m a nerd, maybe I’m a freak, but I sleep peacefully and live my life doing things that makes me happy. Some people may think this is exactly waste of time and life, or that I am selfish and a hypocrite, but who cares? Definitely not me xD. At least I don’t hurt anyone and who doesn’t want to, don’t listen. I don’t force anyone to do anything.

If the only thing you want is new knowledge around IT, perhaps the series of these posts will appeal to you and you will find something interesting for yourself here.

Do not worry, it will not be about me, my psychological and existential problems. The series of Worth checking will be a collection of materials, links and other resources that I review, read and check out in the course of my skill development in IT and Cybersecurity, but also stuff I read and check in a free time. People often ask me where to start what to read, what places to visit, how did I start, etc. I personally - unfortunately - don’t have time to mentor or teach others, the only way I share knowledge and my experience is through this site and the articles you read. I thought, ok maybe by sharing the materials I find and read myself, someone will have an easier time and by peeking at my doings will find the way to gain knowledge themselves. I myself appreciate people who show me the way to solve my problem or understand an issue and not give me a ready answer. There are millions of ready answers on the web and none ever fits, and when by some miracle it does fit, without understanding the problem I will never solve a similar, or the same one in the future. I hope that this form of articles once in a while, when I gather enough interesting material, will be interesting to you.

So, once a month while, I will try to sum up all things I found interesting and put into article. Books, links, documents etc. I also encourage you to share your knowledge and materials, if you want you can be parts of these series. I am more than happy to add chapter like “sent from readers” or “readers choice” or “community choice” and put there links you sent me by email, or share with our small community on Discord (you can find invite link on the main page).

Illustration for this article was generated by AI. Main theme: hackers classroom. I think it can be funny to generate header image for this series by AI.

Let’s start. I have no idea how it should look like, so the structure may change a little bit in the future. I also added some old things I thought would be cool to share with you, to make this first entry full of stuff.

All materials were found on the Internet for free without restrictions. The materials have information about their authors and source and have not been modified by me.
